Simon and Arnold Landscape Architecture Ltd is a Pan-African landscape architecture practice based in Kenya driven by a simple belief: the spaces we create should bring people closer to nature, not further away from it.

We believe every landscape holds a story. Our role is to understand the character of a site, the people who inhabit it, and the forces that shape it, then translate these into spaces that are both functional and meaningful. We approach landscape architecture as a process of solving problems through design; balancing human experience, environmental performance, and the inherent qualities of the land.

With the overarching design philosophy of Resonance, our work combines innovative thinking, functionality, environmental psychology, and ecological sensitivity to create landscapes that are purposeful and responsive to how people live, move, interact, and experience their surroundings.
Our work is research-informed and evidence-driven. We are curious about the relationship between people, the built environment, and nature, and continuously explore how research, observation, and emerging knowledge can inform better design solutions. Through research and development, we seek to challenge conventional approaches and develop solutions that are relevant, resilient, and responsive to the evolving African context.

We draw inspiration from the richness of the African landscape, making thoughtful use of local materials, native and climate-adapted plants. Rather than imposing a landscape on a site, we seek to understand its character and work with what already exists.
From intimate residential landscapes to complex urban environments and large-scale developments, our work seeks to create places that are not simply beautiful, but meaningful, enduring, and rooted in their context. At S + A, we strive to create landscapes that enrich everyday life while strengthening the relationship between people, place, and nature.
